The KU family tradition
Welcome Picnics
Every summer, chapters of the KU Alumni Association welcome the next generation of Jayhawks to the University. Incoming students and parents from the area are invited to attend a reception in their honor. Food and drinks are combined with plenty of KU company. Alumni share their stories of the Hill, current students lend advice, and University representatives also attend to answer any questions about life on the Hill. These events are free of charge and open to prospective students who are considering KU. Check our calendar to find a picnic in your area.

Jayhawks Generations online feature
Each year the KU Alumni Association recognizes KU legacy families whose attendance at the University includes two or more generations. If your young Jayhawk is ready to leave the nest and head to KU, let us know! Incoming freshmen will be included in the "Jayhawk Generations" online feature, our salute to true blue heritage.
To be included, your student needs to:
• Be a freshman in the fall 2009
• Have at least one parent who is an Association member
• Have at least one parent who attended KU (that parent need not have graduated)
• Submit information detailing KU family members to the Association by July 10, 2009

Second generation: Send student's high school name and any additional family members who have attended KU. As another option, you can fill out the second generation online form. Please do not send student photographs for second generation Jayhawks.
Third generation and beyond: Send student's résumé or list of high-school activities. Please provide information about your KU ancestors. Mail a photograph of the student and college-era photos of parents who attended KU (fifth-generation Jayhawks also can send photos of KU grandparents). We will return all photos after the feature is published online in September 2009. In addition to submitting the required information, you can fill out the third generation or fourth and fifth generation online form.
